What shoppers look for now

01Every shade

Shoppers expect foundation and concealer ranges that match deep, medium and fair skin tones, with the same wear across the range.

02Makeup that cares

Hybrid products with SPF, hydration or soothing actives blur the line between makeup and skin care.

03Clean colour

Interest is rising in mineral, vegan and carmine-free colour, and in clear information on pigment safety.

The science

The colour science we formulate for.

Colour briefs come down to pigment, wear and skin. We plan all three together.

CSL colour cosmetics pigment science: iron oxide, mica and pearl pigments in lab dishes with a lipstick and a magnified pigment dispersion

Pigments & shade

Accurate colour in every shade.

A shade range lives or dies on pigment dispersion and colour consistency. We build shade families from a controlled pigment system so every shade wears the same way, and screen each pigment against the colourant lists of your markets.

Wear & finish

Wear that lasts, comfort that stays.

Long wear, transfer resistance and a comfortable feel pull against each other. We balance film formers, oils and powders to reach the finish you want, from dewy to matte, and test wear over a full day.

Makeup on real skin

Makeup that is kind to skin.

People with acne, sensitive skin or pigmentation often rely on makeup most. Well-formulated coverage can improve quality of life without worsening skin, and tinted formulas with iron oxides add visible-light protection.

Clinical evidence

What the published trials show.

Published human studies on makeup, camouflage and tinted protection. Several are controlled but not randomised, and we label them that way.

These are published studies on ingredients, methods and routines, not on products we have made. A finished product needs its own testing before a claim goes on pack, and we design that study with you. See the full evidence library

Claims review
Cosmetic or drug?

In the US, makeup with SPF is an OTC drug and colour additives need specific FDA listing. In the EU, colourants must be on Annex IV, and heavy-metal traces must be technically unavoidable and safe. We check both before shade development starts.

FAQ

Colour cosmetics questions.

Can you develop a full foundation shade range?

Yes. We build the range from a controlled pigment system, map it against skin tones and check wear consistency across shades.

Can you replace carmine or silicones?

Yes. We rebuild colour with plant-derived and mineral pigments, and texture with silicone alternatives, then test wear and finish.

Do you screen for heavy metals?

Yes, by ICP-MS, against EU technically-unavoidable limits and FDA guidance for lip and external products.

Can our foundation carry an SPF claim?

Yes, with in-vivo SPF testing. In the US it then becomes an OTC drug, so we plan the route first.

Who owns the formula?

You do. We sign an NDA first, and the formula and technical file are handed over at the end.
