Our evidence standard

How we choose what we cite.

Human trials first

We cite studies on people, not only lab or animal data, and prefer randomised, controlled, blinded designs.

Peer-reviewed and traceable

Every study is published in a peer-reviewed journal and linked to its PubMed record so you can read it yourself.

Labelled honestly

We say when a trial is open-label, compares against a medicine, or tests an oral supplement rather than a cosmetic.

Ingredient evidence is not product evidence

Published trials show what an ingredient or approach can do. A finished product still needs its own testing before a claim goes on pack.
